Global South Primates Stand with the Communion Partners
Global South Primates Stand with the Communion Partners
Jul 21In their communique from the Global South Conference of the Decade of Mission and Networking, the GS Primates included the following paragraphs:
6. We note with great sadness the passing of Resolution A049 at the 77th General Convention of The Episcopal Church which authorized a liturgy for blessing same-sex unions. This action confirms our disappointment that The Episcopal Church has no regard for the concerns and convictions of the vast majority of Anglicans worldwide.
7. We stand in solidarity with our brethren in the Communion Partners who have dissented from this action. We uphold them in prayer and support them in fellowship as they continue in their commitment to the evangelical faith and catholic order of the Church, as expressed in their Minority Report known as The Indianapolis Statement.

I was recently talking with some parishioners from our parish who were quite disturbed and saddened by the actions at General Convention. They truly feel that the Episcopal Church is dead. Their greatest fear is finding out the the Episcopal Church will no longer be part of the Anglican Communion, as they are life long Anglicans.
It was through our discussions that the Communion Partners came up. They had not heard of the Communion Partners prior to our talk, and we encouraged and excited to hear about our group. I spoke with them about the system of support we have, not only here in the Episcopal Church but worldwide, as evident by those who joined us in Orlando a while back, and by statements from other parts of the Communion in our support.
This statement of hope and support from the Global South Primates is just another sign that we are doing the right thing by remaining where and who we are! I will be sharing this with the congregation during our adult Sunday School tomorrow. Thank you for posting this!
